Solar Water Heating – How it Works.

The cold water from the bottom of the tank is circulated (via a small pump) through the solar collectors on the roof where it is warmed by the heat of the sun before being returned to the tank. A temperature controller continuously monitors the heat of the water in the tank and activates the natural gas boiler if the water temperature does not meet the programmed temperature setting.

By incorporating a solar water heating system throughout the year, the boilers will not have to work as hard to bring the water up to the desired temperature. Less work required by the boiler translates to less natural gas use, lower utility bills and extended life of the boilers.
